Colorado dominated an overmatched Central Connecticut for three periods with superior speed and passing. They used only 31 shots to score 8 goals.

An explosive CSU scored 6 on 65 shots with Jason Bowers scoring a natural hat-trick (1 full-strength, 1 PP, 1 SH). Dan McVicker and Scott Pulkowski had strong third-period performances, stopping 26 of 27 shots – including a two minute 5-on-3.

The aggressive style of Weber State got them 11 penalties and two goals in 3 minutes including the game winner with 2:09 remaining. A physical game with great checking and penalty killing. Brian Gratz was strong stopping 31 of 34 for Penn State.

Credit the USB defense with the win. They tallied 2 goals, 3 assists, and allowed only 12 shots on goal. Illinois scored twice in the first 10 minutes but had trouble in the neutral zone for the remainder. Arty Martrano (USB) and Jeff Schiavoni (UI) were standouts.

Clever passing, and readily clearing the zone on the larger surface beat UM. Defensemen Derek Schlonsky scored 4 PP goals to lead Michigan, but they were unable to overcome a disappointing first period. Okuniewsky made the glove save of the day with 2:00 left.

Jeff Langille stopped 62 shots, but bad passing cost the Trojans. Miami’s forecheck held the puck in the SC zone for minutes at a time and Kevin Murray had one goal, one assist. Scott McKeone scored on a rare penalty shot. For SC, Nick Nickson and Brandon Krikorian scored for USC. Fadel earned his win in the third with some great saves.

The most exciting game of the day. Indiana’s Justin Peck put one past the right toe of Shaun Zeldes 2:56 into overtime after Eric Wojno tied the game with 3:44 remaining in the third period. Oakland’s BJ Beliotte, Ron Kolito, and Indiana’s Brandon Tucker, Mike Piotrowski, and Matt Hesemen were amazing to watch.

The fate of the Buffaloes was decided by Chris Isham when he snuck the biscuit by Weber State’s goaltender at 1:28 into overtime. Both teams played exceptionally – congratulations to them both.

Colorado took the lead 2-1 in the second period, and eventually built a 5-2 advantage over Stonybrook midway through the third. Stonybrook would came back, scoring just past the 16 minute mark, and again with the goalie pulled will less than a minute left to make it a 5-4 game. They were unable to put in the tying goal, however, and CU put the game away with an empty net goal.
